Tks everyone for your input...really appreciate it. I do have a new saddle for my new horse, so yes I am working on turning the fenders with a handle. In my other saddle the leather is so soft and the fenders are well turned. So that isn't the problem....the problem is me because my knees hurt with the old saddle as well. I have a fused ankle and my knees are bothering me as well (damn...I hate this getting old business). lol! I did buy a set of knock off Crooked Stirrups. I've now used them a few times and I have to say they seem to help. I know you shouldn't rely on stirrups for balance and all that stuff and I try to keep my heels down and sit straight, etc. but I just want to be able to get on my horse and ride and not feel like a 90 year old woman when I get off. lol And..maybe when I'm 90 I'll still be riding! lol I am not going to be competing in barrel racing but I may try alittle team penning this fall. So you see...I'm just wanting comfort and confidence and of course safety is most important as she is very quick. I've also heard that there is another similar stirrup that is helpful with knee and ankle problems. They're called Cloud Stirrups. Again...if anyone has experience with them, I'd love to hear from you.
