It makes me sad that he's been gone so long and noone knew. I, too, have a horseshoe heart with my name on it that he gave me.... and one of those hoofpicks that he made, which is why I always think of him, because that's the ONLY one I have used since he gave it to me. He also made me a bootjack.... but 'SOMEBODY' broke it a few years ago. Bill would've laughed and made me another one.

Ditto to your comment Meg. I too have a horsehoe heart with my name on it as well as a hoof pick and a bootjack, as well as a hoof stand that he built too. It kinda makes you wonder how many of his little creations are scattered across the country :) He sure had a big heart.... Rest easy Bill,,,

I think we should figure out how to get these heart felt notes to Bill's family. He sure has touched a lot of lives, and helped a lot of horses. Marcia

Wow - Just a quick funny story about Hoss. Some of you will remember one of the first events that Rancher put on up in St.Jo to raise money for the vet who had been injured rescuing horses from a wild fire. Hoss offered up $100 donation if I'd let him ride my horse out in the arena one time around a barrel and back. Needless to say, Hoss had had a couple. I offered to adjust his stirrups for him but he said there was no need. (I'm 5'4 and Hoss was at least 6'1" - LOL) He trotted out to the barrel slowly slipping sideways until he was completely under Spirit when he made it to the barrel still holding onto the reins. Spirit took it pretty well, but did a tap dance all over Hoss with us all yelling to let go of the reins the whole time. (Spirit wouldn't hurt a fly, he was just trying to get away.) Hoss ended up with a major horseshoe imprint in the middle of his arm and from there on out every time he talked to me, he referred to my "wild buckin' bronc!" LOL That weekend, Hoss bent a shoeing nail into a ring and actually got down on one knee to present to me. I told him he better get up cause it was going to take a "rock" on that ring for me to say yes. LOL After that, he would always joke in chat about the river rocks he found to add to my ring. Funny timing - I was cleaning my truck out about two weeks ago and found that ring and thought of him. Hoss - God knows you loved a good party - may you rest in peace.

Wow, sorry to hear of Hoss's passing. I worked with him at Brighter Days a couple of years back, and I too have a heart shaped horseshoe. What a big heart. He will be missed. Nancy
