Well now that they make viagra GM..... whats yer point? GEEEEEZZZE.... yer bad! :P I was honestly impressed by the guy goin for it at 71. The oldest riding student I ever had was a woman who was 72 and she wanted to learn to jump. She did it to. Think it scared me more than her.

He says that what makes it worth it is that his riding is still improving . . . That's an amazing testimony to the statement that "when we stop learning, we're dead." This man truly knows how to enjoy life, and what a blessing is his wife . . . She has blessed him with the grace of freedom so he can devote himself to something he loves, and see how he loves her in return. Thanks, chic!

Who defines "old"? I'm starting over at 60 after 4 back surgeries and back up trail riding!

Definitely not YOU, songsinger! Kudos to you . . . How wonderful it must feel for you to be up on a horse again. :) Age is a number . . . In my view, a childlike (not childish) spirit is what keeps us young at heart, and I think of a childlike spirit as one that always hopes . . . always looks for more to learn, and finds joy in the simplest things.

So does anyone know how's doing in the Olympics so far? I watched some of the equestrian events but didn't see him ride. Horsechic -- thanks for posting this. I suspect I would call him a samurai rider!

My dad was riding most every day and still showing (quite successfully!) right up until 80- cancer took him shortly after his 81st birthday. He was a skinny cowboy, and a true horseman to the end. I miss him every day, and am so proud of him!

Dandy thats awesome.... I don't have cable channels so am not getting any equestrian events yet... they will show some of the finals next weekend on regular nbc. I have an obituary hanging in my tackroom for a woman that died at 101 yrs that I cut out from the newspaper some years ago. It shows a picture of a very elderly lady with an even more elderly looking horse over her shoulder. The caption reads.... "(name) with her horse Snowball who she quit riding at the age of 92 because she thoughtt her HORSE was getting too old" She is my hero!

Awesome story. I wish I could get more of the equestrian events on my TV, too. Thanks for the post. Vicky
